The Challenge was...

The peak of Mount Everest is 8,848 meters (29,029 ft) above sea level and is one of the worlds most breathtaking regions. Climbing Everest however takes many thousands of pounds in permits, training, equipment, insurance and travelling expenses. There's a great article here, about the cost of an Everest climb.

So would it not make more sense to give all the money to charity rather than spend it on climbing the greatest peak? and this is where the idea for a UK based Everest Charity Challenge was born. We are proud to be 100% non-profit. Read more about our event here...

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We are keenly aware of our social and environmental responsibilities with an event of this type. We are not trying to emulate a three peaks challenge, please read what we are trying to do in reducing and also giving back to the environment, in this and future events in our Low Impact and Carbon Offsetting statements.

------

We spend a lot of time in the outdoors both training and learning. As each years events grow, we will be adapting to what we have learned from the previous years challenge. The is not an annual event and each year until 2012 we will be tackling different endurance challenges. The 2010 event will be announce in September'09.

firefoxStarting out in mid August'09, our plan is to cover some of the UK's most rugged peaks, in a dash of blisters and energetic fundraising.

The event is quite simple; we will run, crawl and limp our way towards securing as much money for charity as we can. Ascending beyond the height of Everest, right here in the UK. Where possible we will be camping on location, making sure we take care and respecting our surroundings. Much of the equipment we require will be carried on our backs.

During and after the event we will be auctioning off various pieces of equipment used on the challenge, to further boost our charity fundraising pot.
